Lightning Strike Gold in Nepean
The U14A-West team traveled to Nepean for their first tournament of the season Nov 15 -17, 2013. The team finished the round robin with a perfect record of 4 wins beating Ottawa, Sudbury, Timmins and Nepean. In an exciting final game against Timmins, the Richmond Hill U14A-West took the gold medal with a 4-1 win.

Kate Vandeloo netted 2 goals while Amanda Cuthbert and Julia Roman added single markers. Emily Lazenby assisted on all 4 goals.
Also playing in the Nepean tournament were the U14AA, U16A and U16AA Lightning teams. All teams played well with the U16A team going 2-1-1 to finish third in their division; while the two AA teams posted 2 wins and 2 losses in their respective divisions.
In league action, the U9-Laughlin team defeated Sunderland 5-0 with Chelsea Laughlin leading the way with 3 goals and Alexia Himelfarb recording the shutout in net. Both U10 teams picked up a pair of wins over the weekend with the Harling team recording wins over Caledonia 6-1 and Whitby 5-4; while the Lee team defeated Markham 8-3 and Pickering 7-2. The U12B team dropped a 5-0 decision to Sunderland; while the U12P-Zanon team was shut down 8-0 by Whitby. The U14A2 team lost a hard fought back and forth game to Ayr 7-6. Meera Sayal had the hat trick with singles from Amber Guido, Kassandra Trianni and Rachel Angaran. The U16B team beat Whitby 4-3 while the U16AA team dropped a 5-1 decision to Guelph.
The NRL Lightning took 2 games from the Atlantic Attack recording wins of 8-6 and 6-2 to leap-frog past 3 teams in the early season standings.
