Lightning Strikes Feb 28- Mar 2
Submitted By Scott Thompson on Monday, March 3, 2014
The ringette season is winding down with teams using their remaining games to get ready for provincial and regional championships.  In U10 action, the Lightning’s U10-Harling team, currently sitting in 3rd place in league standings, outlasted the 4th place U10-Lee team 8-7.  The win comes after an 8-3 win over 2nd place Oshawa a day earlier when the U10-Lee team was again coming up a bit short in dropping a 7-5 decision to first place Whitby.

In U12 action, the 4th place U12P-West team showed that they are ready for the championships to begin in defeating 2nd place Whitby 7-2.  The U12P-Zanon team dropped an 8-1 decision to Burlington while the U12B-Mews team dropped all 3 of their weekend games losing to Newmarket twice and Markham once.

In U14 action, the 1st place and still undefeated U14A1-West team, with a record of 17-0-1, continued to show their dominance in posting wins over 2nd place Oshawa 7-1 while taking both ends of a home-and-home series against 5th place Whitby 4-3 and 7-2.  The U14A2-Thompson team defeated Mississauga 2-1 before dropping a 7-0 decision to Oshawa.  The U14AA-Sarjeant team shut out the Guelph Predators 2-0 and now sit one point behind the Preds for 4th spot in the standings.  The U14B-Edward team posted back-to-back 3-2 wins over Newmarket and Etobicoke.

In U16 action, after winning medals in 3 consecutive tournaments (Gold & 2 Silver) the U16A-McKnight team dropped 2 games in a row losing to Forest 11-1 and Mitchell 6-2 before rebounding with a 4-0 shut out over Whitby, and currently sit in 2nd place in league standings.  The U16AA-File team continues to hold onto 4th spot in the league standings after settling for a 4-4 tie with 5th place Mississauga.  The U16B-Booth team dropped a 5-2 decision to the Burlington Blast.

In U19 action, the 4th place U19A-Turner team played well in two close matches, and was pressing to equalize in losing 3-2 to 3rd place Burlington before again running out of time in a 4-3 loss to 1st place Whitby.
