RHRA Regional Award Recipient / Southern AAA team announced / Team Canada Selection Camp
Southern Region Ringette recently awarded the Richmond Hill Ringette Association with an award for “Regional Association of the Year” for the 2014-15 season. Also, an unprecedented amount of our players have made the cut for the Southern Region AAA team that will compete at the Ontario Winter Games next winter, and we have players trying out for Team Canada Senior and Junior Teams that will compete in Finland next winter.

The RHRA has displayed above average performance in most areas of program delivery including
Publicity and Promotion (through our informative website and regular updates in our local community newspaper “The Liberal”, as well as televised broadcasting of select tournament game finals on Rogers TV);
Recruitment (with our “Come Try Ringette” and “Bring a Friend” events); Development (through a variety of skills clinics); and
Retention (with our equipment lending program). Couple all of this with our very successful “
Spring Ringette” and it should come as no surprise that our Association would be recognized as a top performer.
Hosting an NRL team along with every level of play from U8 up to U19AA, plus the addition of U18+ this past season, has certainly helped the RHRA to stand out from other associations. However, internally we know that a large part of what has made us a worthy recipient of this award is the commitment of our incredible volunteers who manage all the many details that have allowed our association to become so successful. Congratulations RHRA!
Southern AAA team announced
A further demonstration of RHRA’s success came when the Southern Region AAA team announced its roster for 2015-16. Ten players who played for Richmond Hill this past season have been selected to play for the Southern Region AAA team this coming season. Six of these players call Richmond Hill their home association.
Congratulations go out to the following:

Team Canada Selection Camp
For the first time, Team Canada will host a joint selection camp for our junior and senior national teams. The selection camp runs from May 14-18 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke where athletes will be named to the junior and senior national teams and will continue to train for competition at the 2016 world ringette championship that will take place in Helsinki, Finland from December 28th, 2015 to January 4th, 2016.
Five players from our NRL Lightning team will be attending the selection camp with Beth Hurren and Ashley Miller trying out for the Senior team; while Melissa Simone, Erica Voss and Shae-Lynn Raeman try out for the Junior team. Good luck, ladies!
