The U12P team hit the road for an action-packed weekend in Oshawa that
would see them face some very tough teams from Ontario. Leading into this Nov 3-5, 2017 weekend the U12P team was off to a great start to their season. Riding an 8-game win streak, the team continued to play strong and went undefeated in their 4-game round robin in the tournament.
The U12P-Ianni Team
The girls worked hard against Sault Ste. Marie allowing our goalie to earn her second shut out of the season! The girls dominated the game with 56 shots on net. The Sault had a very good goalie who limited us to just 3.
Next up the girls faced Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Association (GCRA), a very tough team that saw us down 3-1 after the first half. The girls collected themselves and launched an impressive comeback tying the game at 3 all. With 1.35 minutes to go we got the go-ahead goal and all the girl’s fans in the crowd went wild!
The next day (bright and early) the girls faced the City of Ottawa and limited them to just one goal. Later that afternoon they played their final round robin against Burlington that solidified a perfect round robin for themselves – not an easy task!
On a rainy and foggy Sunday morning the squad walked into the rink eager to play their final game against West Ottawa – a team they had not faced during the round robin. After a shaky first period which saw the girls down 5-1, they again collected themselves and dominated the second period bouncing back to earn 3 more goals. The final score was 7-4 for West Ottawa, a strong team that gave the girls great competition and a look ahead at what we need to work on before we face them again.
The girls collected their Silver medals with smiles on their faces and excitement to continue their quest for Gold again at the next tournament.
These girls play as one team. They have formed such a bond, play with such heart, and never give up! All the coaching staff and their families are incredibly proud of them and cannot wait to do it again next weekend in London!
Go Lightning!!
