18-19 Provincial - U14A - Weaver - RHRA U14A Golden at Provincials!
Submitted By Miriam Weaver on Tuesday, March 26, 2019
The U14A Weaver team travelled to North Bay to participate in the West Ferris Provincial Event on March 14th – 17th, 2019.

On Thursday the opening day, the team faced a tough team from Arnprior who they had only faced once before during the regular season.  Arnprior would score first, but not again as the U14A squad would take the win with a score of 4-1.

Later that day the team would pick up another win against Waterloo with a score of 9-1 marking a good ending to day one!

The squad went out for a big team/family dinner at a great local restaurant and then took part in the parade of athletes at the opening ceremonies before getting some sleep ahead of day two.

Day two was a tough day on the ice with a lot of calls not going in our favour, but the girls came out with a big win against Dorchester with a score of 4-2, but unfortunately came out with a loss later that afternoon to London with a score of 0-2.

The team went out for another great team/family dinner!  The girls had their nightly coaches/players meeting and then got some much needed rest ahead of the final round robin games.

The girls knew what they had to do for the last day of round robin and they did just that!  They secured a win against Oshawa with a score of 6-3, and a final win against West Ottawa with a very tight score of 4-3.

After the completion of round robin the U14A Weaver team finished in first place!

Sunday morning the U14A squad would face Waterloo in the semi finals.  This game was a much closer affair than their previous meeting.  At the half the girls were up 4-1.  Waterloo would fight back though coming within 1 goal in just under a minute left.  The girls would hang on for the win and continue on to the finals!

The finals were upon us.  There was definitely some nervousness in the air, but the girls knew what they wanted to achieve on the ice.  And they did just that!  Dorchester would score first, but RH would quickly match it.  RH went up by another goal but then Dorchester would match it.  RH went up again and kept hanging on winning the game with a final score of 5-2!

The parents, families and coaching staff could not be more proud of this fantastic group of girls.  They have bonded from the start on and off the ice.  They’re an absolute pleasure to be around and they ended their season the way they knew they wanted to!

Congratulations girls!
