What does the social media event team do?

The Richmond Hill Ringette Association (RHRA) is seeking two creative and motivated individuals to provide social media content for the upcoming Ringette Ontario (RO) AA Provincial Event taking place March 12 – 15, 2019.

Social Media Content will be provided on the following Ringette Ontario AA Provincial Event platforms – Instagram, Facebook, Twitter.

Social media specialists should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. You are responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of the event, RO, and RHRA.

Social Media Team Responsibilities

  • Build and execute social media posts through creative content for the duration of the event.
  • Highlight competitive games, athletes, referees, coaches and event sponsors.
  • Instagram – provide daily posts that are athlete focused.
    • Instagram Feed – daily recaps (pictures, review of next day, sharing important information)
    • Instagram Story – different game highlights and score updates, announcements, share posts from members that RO has been tagged in and/or that feature the event hashtag #MakeLightningStrike
  • Facebook – provide daily posts that are spectator, coach, referee and volunteer focused).
  • Facebook Feed – daily recaps (pictures from the crowd, referees in action, volunteers working)
  • Facebook Story – Different game highlights and score updates, announcements, share posts from members that RO has been tagged in and/or that feature the event hashtag #MakeLightningStrike
  • Twitter – provide frequent postings.
    • Major highlights, announcements, score updates from score2stats, retweets from Members that RO has been tagged in and/or that feature the event hashtag #MakeLightningStrike
  • Organize and execute social media contests and prizing.
  • Following the RO AA Provincial Event, create a video recapping the event that can be used as future promotional/marketing material for RHRA and/or RO.
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community.
  • Work together with RO to ensure appropriate content.


  • Current RHRA athlete (U19B and above) with extensive knowledge of the game of Ringette.
  • Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and tools knowledge.
  • Experience in social media and digital media on the following platforms – Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.
  • Energetic, positive attitude and creative individual with good multitasking and organisational ability.
  • School experience in social media/creative content is an asset.
  • Experience with the following programs is an asset – Canva, Wordswag, Inshot.


This position will pay the successful candidates each $500.
