RHRA Update
Submitted By Miriam Weaver on Friday, July 24, 2020
Hello Lightning!

We hope you are all well and staying safe! We know everyone is looking for information and eager to get back out on the ice in preparation for the new season.  Everyone is missing the amazing sport that we love.

There is no question that our programs will look different this season. The RHRA is committed to getting our players back on the ice to work on fitness, skills, having fun and then full game play, but only when it is safe for all to do so. Safety is the top priority for everyone - our players, coaches, team staff, parents, facility staff and of course, our community.

There are some key questions we all have.  When will registration open?  How and when will tryouts and team formation take place?  How will ringette look with physical distancing requirements?  Will players be required to wear masks?  When can regular game action and competition begin?  All good and important questions.

With the situation and restrictions changing quickly, we are working closely with and awaiting further direction from Ringette Ontario, the City of Richmond Hill and our facilities to determine how best to answer these and develop new policies and procedures for a safe return.

It may be a slow build up back to where we were before COVID-19 shut us down right at the peak of our year end championships, but we need to ensure we are protecting everyone.  The last thing we want is to move too quickly only to have problems and be forced to step backwards.

Stick with us and watch for updates on our social media channels.  We’ll be sharing as much as we can, as quick as we can.

If you missed Ringette Ontario’s Virtual Town Hall on July 22nd, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytS37mPj08w

We will see you all again on the ice soon!
