U12-Harling: A Sterling Silver Performance in Pickering
Submitted By Caelynn Wiseman on Tuesday, December 8, 2015
The U12-Harling team came away with the Silver Medal at the 2015 Pickering Ringette Tournament in a high-intensity Final against the tough team from Oshawa.

The girls cruised through the first two games of the round-robin phase of the U12R division, facing Sunderland in the Friday afternoon game.  The girls were aware of this team from a previous encounter and were excited to face them in an official tournament. Our girls played their game strong from the start, netting eight goals in the first period alone.  The game ended with an official 8-1 score with both sides displaying good sportsmanship.

Game two occurred on Saturday morning against the host Pickering team.  This was a team unknown to our girls but that didn't phase them as they got on the scoreboard in under a minute.  Once again, this was a game played without any major incident as our girls dominated the play with a 9-2 victory!

Saturday afternoon saw the team from Oshawa hit the ice to match our 2-0 round-robin record against theirs.  As in their previous regular season game, U12-Harling spotted their opponents 6 goals before finally scoring once!  Going forward, it was an uphill battle against a much larger Oshawa team.  Our girls did battle back valiantly but lost in a 10-6 decision.  Regardless, they had qualified to play in the Medal Game Sunday!

Early Sunday afternoon - and the bruises were still fresh from the previous game against Oshawa.  This time the U12-Harling girls brought it to the Oshawa team; battling a tough contest to trail only 5-3 at the Half.  Goalie Ashley made some impossible saves to keep her team within striking distance.  But with many penalties called, our girls couldn't quite finish the come-back and, as the buzzer sounded, it was a close fought 8-5 loss to Oshawa.

Congratulations girls on your Silver Medal performance in Pickering!
