Richmond Hill NRL Alumni Kristin Johnston - Giving Time and Knowledge to our RH U19AA and NRL Teams (written by Karen Beam)
Submitted By Loren Thorburn on Monday, September 30, 2019
Kristin Johnston instructed a Goal Setting Strategy meeting on September 24th, 2019 with our RH U19AA and RH NRL teams.  Kristin played 10+ years of NRL level ringette and recently graduated with a Master's degree in Human Kinetics with a Specialization in Intervention of Sport.  She taught the girls the value of goal setting and the impact to increase motivation, achieve results and boost self confidence.

Kristin discussed the difference between Performance goals (achievement of individual performance) vs. Outcome goals (achievement of the outcome of performance) and Process goals (short term goals that are stepping stones towards the larger goals).  The girls took time to create 3 goals and design a strategy to follow the SMARTER strategy for results.

SMARTER Goal Setting Strategy:
S. Specific: clear, exactly what you expect and why
M. Measurable: criteria for your progress
A. Attainable: goals that are within reach
R. Realistic: push your capabilities but in a manageable way
T. Time Oriented: your goals should have a deadline, mini progress points
E. Elastic: adaptable to your progress
R. Relevant to you!
