The Richmond Hill Ringette Association is proud to announce that our U14AA team, competing as Ontario 2 at the 2026 Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships, has brought home a Gold Medal -- going undefeated across all six games of the tournament.
Held April 16-19 at Iceland Arena in Mississauga, the ECRC brought together the top two U14AA teams from each of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Every team arrived ready to compete at the highest level, and the competition throughout the weekend reflected that. Through it all, our athletes stayed focused, disciplined, and united - trusting each other, playing as a system, and consistently putting the team first in every situation.
The road was not without adversity. One player missed games four and five due to illness, and the group navigated several bumps and bruises along the way. However, when it mattered most, everyone answered the call - including that ill player, who returned to the ice for the gold medal final.
The team also delivered a strong performance in the tournament's skills competition, winning two of six categories. Rachel Yee earned recognition as the tournament's fastest skater, and Priya Dyer was recognized for the best goalie throw.
This gold medal marks the first time an Ontario U14AA team has won the Eastern Championship since 2014, when Mississauga’s U14AAs held it last - and stands as the highest competitive achievement in the history of the Richmond Hill Ringette Association.
Congratulations to Head Coach Annette Mews, the entire coaching staff, and most importantly, to the players who competed with heart, resilience, and incredible teamwork from the first pass of the ring to the final whistle. This is a moment Richmond Hill Ringette will not forget.
